The first thing that I did was select 9 landscape drawings. Once I had decided on those 9 I selected 2 from which I would make contour drawings. The 2 that I selected were the bay photo and the cliff photo. In the contour drawings all I had to do was draw an outline of the landscape, I found this part very easy but it also gave me an idea which one would be easier to value draw.
Once completing the contour drawings on both of the landscapes I decided that the bay photo was most comfortable to value draw for me. In the value drawing I learned how different we can use one of the elements of design, line. We can use thin, thick, short, long, light, and dark lines to create depth on the picture plane. I also, learned that drawing a value drawing looks much more natural compared to using a ruler when drawing. When you let your hand do all the work, it makes your hand more stable and the drawing doesn’t look artificial.
I think I have to improve on, being able to create a bit more depth in my drawings. Right now, my pictures look very straight and hopefully over this year I will be able to make some of the lines stick out and create depth.
